HOW TO ENJOY THE MURALS OF LAKE PLACID
Come to the Lake Placid
Chamber/Mural Gallery, 18 N. Oak St. Open Monday
through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., except
holidays. View a 10-minute video, which answers most of
the questions visitors have asked. All of the original
mural renderings are on display in our gallery. Then
purchase a $3.00 mural tour book. The history of each
mural is in the book. It also includes the mural
society’s entire project. The artist hides something in
each mural, and the book tells you what to look for.
Sometimes the artist leaves something out. Then you
may take a walking tour of the town. Time for the tour
varies for each person due to the pace at which you
walk, and how much interest you have in finding the
hidden items, and reading the history. You can finish
the tour in one hour, or spend an entire day. It is up
to you.
Groups are welcome. For a group
of ten to forty five people, you may make arrangements
for a showing of the 10-minute mural video, and a talk
about the history of the mural society. This includes
how the society started. It also tells about the impact
of the murals on the Town of Lake Placid. You may ask
questions. Donations are accepted. Reservations
recommended. Call 863-465-2394
Bus tour companies are welcome. A
mural guide boards your bus, and gives a one and a half
hour tour of the murals. This includes the history of
the murals, and a history of the Lake Placid Mural
Society. The fee for this is $6.00 per person, payable
to the Lake Placid Mural Society. Reservations
required. Call 863-465-2394 |
